Rice MPS and the Gregg House
The Gregg House is located in the Irvington neighborhood and was constructed by Rice Construction Co. A lot of people helped with this project, including Tama Tochihara, Sara Paulson and Janice Dilge. Roy Roos provided a great deal of valuable information on the Rices. Additional research was provided by Jim Heuer and Robert Mercer. Amy even helped with the architectural description.
This house was nominated under an MPS. I was lucky enough to get assistance from Michelle Dennis to help draft the MPS and the National Register Nomination. At the most recent SACHP Meeting (Oct 16, 2007) they voted to recommend both the MPS and the Gregg House for listing on the National Register. Once the NPS approves the MPS, this means that any of the identified Rice houses are eligible for individual listing on the National Register, provided that they submit an individual NR nomination which shows how they meet the registration requirements identified in the MPS.
