Welcome

I am a historic preservation consultant and a preservation planner. I enjoy working collaboratively with cities and individuals to help identify, document and preserve historic resources. I am currently focusing my work in Washington County, Oregon where I live with family, however I have worked in many communities throughout Oregon. I was born in Boston and grew up in New Hampshire, and moved to Oregon after high school and attended Linfield College here in Oregon. I went back to the east coast, where I attended graduate school at the University of Pennsylvania.

I have found my work to be very rewarding, especially when I can help communities and individuals to preserve those resources they identify as important. Through my business and volunteer work I am committed to empowering people to identify what their historic preservation goals are, and helping them figure out a way to achieve those goals.

Please take a look around my website to see what sort of projects I'm currently working on, as well as those I've worked on in the past.

If you would like to contact me please email me at: kimxfitz@gmail.com or phone me at 503 351-7578. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hillsboro- Orenco

I will be completing a Reconnaissance level survey of the Orenco Neighborhood in Hillsboro this year. At the completion of the survey I will work with the neighborhood and the HLAC to determine whether or not the area might be eligible for a National Register District.

Forest Grove- Walker/Naylors Addition

I am working with Michelle Dennis this year to complete an update to survey that was originally completed in 1998 of the Walker/Naylors addition area in Forest Grove. We will be updating the survey information with new photos and inputting the information into the SHPO Access Database. In 2009 we will be working with the Historic Landmarks Board to determine whether this area might be eligible for a National Register District.

Ashland

I have recently finished working on an interesting project for the City of Ashland. I evaluated their historic preservation program and we worked together to develop a ten year historic preservation plan. First we completed a survey of property owners and those interested in historic preservation in Ashland and then a list of suggested alternative programs and possible funding sources to address any identified issues was developed.
